A CONCRETE FOR THE ‘OTHER HALF’
12/2020

In 2020 I was part of the Bauhaus Lab. The Bauhaus Lab is a three month research program for post graduates from all over the world with a focus on architecture, design and curating. This exhibition is (next to the book) the result of the residency.

Through the lense of sulphur concrete block produced by the Minimum Cost Housing Group (MCHG) in 1972 the Bauhaus Lab 2020 researched the need for housing in ‘developing countries’ during the postwar II era and the changing role of the architect as a provider of self-build instructions. The exhibition addresses the historical and architectural complexities of post-colonial times and explores sulphur as a material appropriated for intermediate technology.
